The fibers of the Cannabis plant can be used to create fabric and textiles. Often referred to as Hemp-textiles, they are more durable than for example cotton-textiles. The Hemp-textile industry was crushed during the vast and unfortunate criminalization of Cannabis in all shapes and forms that took place during the 20th century. But it’s staged to make a much-needed comeback.
Growing, cultivating and creating Hemp textiles has a significantly smaller environmental impact than Cotton. Add the fact that hemp textiles are much more durable than cotton and it’s easy to see that Cannabis cultivation for the making of Hemp textiles has all the reasons in the world to replace Cotton as the “King of textiles”.
